“Great service and a passion for improvement are at the heart of a culture committed to excellence,” says Jennifer Smith, Vice President of Corporate Relations and Chief Human Resources Officer, Burlington Hydro Inc. “A dedicated, diverse and engaged workforce fuels the success of our company, enhances customer relations and ensures a high level of quality in everything we do.”
Burlington Hydro understands that by creating a supportive work environment, employees will be healthier, happier, and more likely to reap the benefits of a meaningful career. Motivation and inspiration are key components to providing an environment where employees have room to excel. Training and development programs receive top priority across all aspects of the operation. This includes the integration of Co-op and Internship placements that utilize the skills, talent, and versatility of post-secondary students, while exposing them to potential career opportunities in the electricity distribution sector.
“From the exacting work of our engineers and the professionalism of our customer service representatives, to our resilient operations crews - and all those in-between - we work together to deliver value at every level of the organization,” says Gerry Smallegange, President and CEO, Burlington Hydro Inc.
Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers using the same criteria as the national competition: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation and Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
