Notice: Tree Trimming along Waterfront/Centennial Trail
Earlier this summer, we began tree trimming and removals along the Waterfront/Centennial Trail between Martha Street and Guelph Line. Conducted by Davey Tree contractors, this work is part of our regularly scheduled tree trimming program (see the link below) and addresses the risk certain tree species pose to critical overhead powerlines servicing the downtown core.
Subject to weather, we expect the tree pruning and removal phase to be complete by the beginning of September. This essential maintenance protects powerlines from tree interference and reduces the risk of outages caused by falling branches. It also helps prevent public safety issues related to downed powerlines. By addressing this now, we're working to ensure reliable power and enhance the safety of our powerlines. The trail will remain open for use during this period.
Once Burlington Hydro completes the maintenance, the City of Burlington will begin replacing trees along the same trail. An environmental assessment has determined suitable, hydro-friendly species to ensure long-term health and safety for both the vegetation and the power lines.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this essential maintenance and restoration work.
